In the 1950s, the Colville Air Force Station was developed and operated 14.7 miles north and east of Colville as part of the Air Defense Command's network of radar stations. A few buildings remain at the site today.

Addy became the stop between Chewelah and Colville on the Spokane Falls and Northern Railway at the end of March 1892. [6] Addy was platted by G. Fatzer in 1893. [7] In 1975, Alcoa built a magnesium smelter, [8] which became the largest employer in the county. In 2001, Alcoa closed the plant due to unfavorable market conditions. [9]
