"Soundtrack 2 My Life" is a song by American recording artist Kid Cudi, taken from his debut studio album Man on the Moon: The End of Day (2009). The lyrics were written by Cudi, while the music was written by American record producer Emile Haynie. The song’s music video, directed by Jason Goldwatch, was released in 2010. [1]
According to AllMusic, soon after it was announced that Kid Cudi would release this album it became "deep in the category of 'much anticipated'". [4] Prior to the album being picked up by the likes of Universal Motown and GOOD Music, he had previously worked with mentor and fellow rapper Kanye West on his 2008 record 808s & Heartbreak, co-writing four hits for it.
Aside from his solo career, Cudi is a member of WZRD, a rock band and production team he formed with longtime friend and collaborator Dot da Genius. Additionally, Cudi is also one half of the hip hop duos Kids See Ghosts and The Scotts , alongside fellow American rappers Kanye West and Travis Scott , respectively.
According to him, anything mediocre will not work for the two "and they will definitely let you know"; he also recounted that Kids See Ghosts is "a blessing to be a part of, and I know the music will help people". [4] The song was produced by Kid Cudi and Dot da Genius, while co-produced by Mike Dean.
A music video directed by Cole Bennett premiered alongside the single on June 24, 2022, on Lyrical Lemonade's official YouTube channel. [6] It features computer-generated graphics and depicts all four of the artists in a black-and-white aesthetic, with Dot taking on the role of a "mad genius" observing the rappers from behind surveillance cameras.
