Ranks below species – a single rank below species, e.g. a strain, a serotype, or a "virus", can be added to a template like that shown above, when neither the below-species taxon nor the species has a taxonomy template. Multiple ranks below species should be set up using taxonomy templates. Such infraspecies ranks are not regulated by the ICTV.
More than one stub template may be used, if necessary, though no more than four should be used on any article. Place a stub template at the very end of the article, after the "External links" section, any navigation templates, and the category tags. As usual, templates are added by including their name inside double braces, e.g. {{Virus-stub}}.
