The film begins in the year 2002, just after the fall of Taliban when Mir, at that time, was living in a cave by the recently destroyed Buddhas of Bamyan. After a year in Bamyan, Mir's family moves back to their home in a small and remote village up north. The film covers the day-to-day lives of Mir and his family.
