It was established by West Riding County Council in 1959 as Batley Boys High School. [2] The school gained specialist status as a Business and Enterprise College in the 2000s and was renamed Batley Business and Enterprise College. The school was renamed Upper Batley High School in September 2015 and converted to academy status in April 2016.
The school converted to academy status in 2011, but continues to coordinate with Kirklees Metropolitan Borough Council for admissions. Batley Girls' High School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs. [2]
