The USPCASW – U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water, was established at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro, with the financial support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Pakistan under the Cooperative Agreement signed with USAID on December 12, 2014, for five years.
In 2004, UET Peshawar moved from an annual system of examination to the semester system. The system was brought by the vice chancellor, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani. There are two semesters in an academic year – Fall and Spring. Each semester consists of 18 weeks of teaching and two exams- mid term and final term.
The institute has been ranked number one in Pakistan and 30th internationally in Quality Education and has an overall ranking of 601-800th by The Times Higher Education in the World University Impact Rankings 2021. [14] The Institute has been ranked third in the province of KPK, 22nd in Pakistan, 532nd Globally by UI Green Metric Rankings 2021.
Up to date, the HEC has published rankings for the years 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014 and most recently 2015. [2] In addition to the top ten and general rankings, independent rankings are also provided for universities and institutes in the categories of agriculture and veterinary science; arts and design; business; engineering and technology; and medicine. [2]
