Wintrust Arena is home to the WNBA team, The Chicago Sky. In October 2021, Wintrust Arena hosted Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals, during which the Chicago Sky defeated the Phoenix Mercury to capture the team's first championship. [31] Both home games featured sell-out capacity crowds of 10,387.
The arena's first event was an arena football game, featuring the Georgia Force – February 16, 2003 [5] The Force played here a total of five seasons, 2003–04, 2008, and 2011–12. Atlanta Gladiators (2003–present) Known as the Gwinnett Gladiators from 2003 to 2015, before changing to their current name.
They play their home games at Gas South Arena, approximately 22 miles (35 km) northeast of Atlanta. The franchise originated as the Mobile Mysticks in 1995. They suspended operations in 2002 and moved to Duluth in 2003 where they were originally known as the Gwinnett Gladiators. In 2015, they changed their name to the Atlanta Gladiators. [2]

The Sky had a volatile 2021 season, including a seven-game losing streak and a seven-game winning streak, which they ended with a 16-16 record. They entered the playoffs as the 6th seed, winning two single-elimination games and a semifinals series against the Connecticut Sun on their way to the Finals.

Credit Union 1 Arena is home to the UIC Flames basketball team and the former home of the Chicago Sky WNBA team. It is the home of the Windy City Rollers of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association.
