In 1976, O'Kelley received Georgia's Governor's Award in the Arts. She published three books in the 1980s: A Winter Place, From the Hills of Georgia: An Autobiography in Paintings, and Circus. Nellie Mae Rowe (July 4, 1900 – October 18, 1982) [1] was an African-American artist from Fayette County, Georgia.Although she is best known today for her colorful works on paper, Rowe worked across mediums, creating drawings, collages, altered photographs, hand-sewn dolls, home installations and sculptural environments.
Pasaquan is a 7-acre (28,000 m 2) compound near Buena Vista, Georgia.It was created by an eccentric folk artist named Eddie Owens Martin (1908–1986), who called himself St. EOM. [2] An internationally renowned art site, it consists of six major structures including a redesigned 1885 farmhouse, painted concrete sculptures, and 4 acres (16,000 m 2) of painted masonry concrete walls.
