Canyon Creek is located in the Mogollon Rim area of the state of Arizona The closest town, Young , is 20 miles (32 km) away. The facilities are maintained by Tonto National Forest division of the USDA Forest Service .
The Mennonite Church Meetinghouse was built in 1946 on 9835 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, in what was then Sunnyslope an area which later became part of Phoenix. In 1949, a new church was erected beside it. The older building was then used as a Christian day school and Sunday school.

In 1873, Cave Creek established the Cave Creek Mining District in an area which covered 144 square miles. William Rowe located a rich gold mine on Gold Hill in 1874. This attracted miners and settlers to the area. The first recorded gold mine in the area was called the Continental. [3] Another mine called the Golden Reef Mine was established.
Canyon Lake lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) up the Apache Trail from Apache Junction, Arizona and 51 miles (82 km) east of Phoenix. It is within the Superstition Wilderness of Tonto National Forest and is a popular recreation area for the Phoenix metropolitan area.
