The Grand Canal (Italian: Canal Grande [kaˌnal ˈɡrande], locally and informally Canalazzo; Venetian: Canal Grando, locally usually Canałaso [kanaˈɰaso]) is the largest channel in Venice, Italy, forming one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city.
A Regatta on the Grand Canal is a 1740 landscape painting by the Italian artist Canaletto. [1] It depicts a view of the Grand Canal in his native Venice. [2] It takes place during the Carnival season when the annual gondola regatta is being held on the Feast of the Purification of the Virgin. In the left foreground the is the Palazzo Balbi.
