The Rio Mondego (European Portuguese: [ˈʁi.u mõˈdeɣu]) or Mondego River is the longest river entirely within Portuguese territory. [1] It has its source in Serra da Estrela , the highest mountain range in mainland Portugal (i.e. excluding the Portuguese islands).
