The Anglesey Association for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck was founded by the Rev. James and Mrs Frances Williams in 1828. They had witnessed the loss of 140 lives from the wreck of the vessel Alert in 1823, and spent the following five years raising funds and gaining support. [3] The Association opened Rhoscolyn Lifeboat station in 1830.
At Llanddeusant is Anglesey's and Wales' only working windmill, Llynnon Mill, [3] [4] opened in 1775 at a cost of £550 and renovated by the local council in 1986 and opened to the public. The mill was originally located there as it lies just to the north of the Afon Alaw , and a little west of Llyn Alaw .
The mill was built for £529, 11s in 1775–1776, on land owned by the surgeon Herbert Jones. [1] [2] It is classified as a tower mill.The machinery is within a stone tower and the moving top, or cap cwch, turns so that the sails hwyliau catch the wind from any direction.

The Marquess of Anglesey's Column (also known as Anglesey Column or by the Welsh name Tŵr Marcwis) is a Doric column near the Menai Strait in Wales. It is dedicated to Henry William Paget (the first Marquess of Anglesey) to commemorate his valour in the Napoleonic Wars. The column is a Grade II* listed building. [1]

Dwyran is a village on the island of Anglesey, in north-west Wales, in the community of Rhosyr. Population 2011 census was 603. [1] The first prototype Land Rover off-road vehicle was built and tested around Dwyran and Newborough, Anglesey in 1947. Maurice Wilks designer of the Land Rover is buried just outside Dwyran village. [2]
St Enghenedl's Church, Llanynghenedl, is a former parish church in Anglesey, north Wales, dedicated to the son of a 6th-century King of Powys.According to the 19th-century antiquarian Angharad Llwyd, the first church in Llanynghenedl was erected in about 620.
