Gethsemane Lutheran Church is a historic Lutheran church in downtown Austin, Texas. It is designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places along with the neighboring Luther Hall. The building currently houses the offices of the Texas Historical Commission.
Fazendeville was a small, historic, African American community in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States.Located near the Freedmen's Cemetery in the parish, this village was razed during the 1960s as part of an expansion of the Chalmette National Battlefield in the Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve.
Chalmette (/ ʃ æ l ˈ m ɛ t / shal-MET) is a census-designated place (CDP) in, and the parish seat of, St. Bernard Parish in southeastern Louisiana, United States. [2] The 2010 census reported that Chalmette had 16,751 people; 2011 population was listed as 17,119; [ 3 ] however, the pre- Katrina population was 32,069 at the 2000 census .
Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) is an association of Lutheran congregations located primarily in the United States. It describes itself as an affiliation of autonomous Lutheran churches and not a denomination. [4] It began in 2001 in response to some liberal views of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
The Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church is a wooden, Carpenter Gothic chapel. [2] It is frame construction with gables at the ends, a central tower, and vestibule in front. The original clapboard siding still clads the building, [ 2 ] although white paint has replaced the original cream-and-gold with red-and-blue accent [ 3 ] color scheme.
