John Wilden Hughes Jr. [2] (February 18, 1950 – August 6, 2009) was an American filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter. He began his career in 1970 as an author of humorous essays and stories for the National Lampoon magazine.
During the 1980s, Hughes wrote a script titled The New Kid, and it was based on his experiences growing up. [1] [12] According to Kirk Honeycutt, author of John Hughes: A Life in Film, the story was "about a teenager's experiences in a new high school in Arizona."
The studio was founded in 1987 by American film producer John Hughes as The John Hughes Company. It was initially based at Universal Pictures, through a three-year production agreement, in order to produce, direct and write two to three pictures a year in order to develop from their own development ideas.
