The Jhelum Express is one of the oldest trains originating from Pune. Started in 1979, [1] it was the first train connecting Pune to the capital city of New Delhi. The train was initially started for the military. Srinagar Express, predecessor, between Delhi and Pathankot during 1950's was extended till Pune and renamed as Jhelum Express.
This train used to run with ICF coach before 15 June 2013.It now runs with LHB rakes. This train comprises all AC LHB rakes. Jammu Rajdhani Express runs with Ghaziabad -based WAP-7 electric loco.Earlier before electrification this train was hauled by a WDM3A or WDM3D locomotive.
