The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile (830 km) scenic route around the north coast of Scotland, starting and ending at Inverness Castle. [1] The route is also known as the NC500 and was launched in 2015, linking many features in the north Highlands of Scotland in one touring route.

The road then bypasses Moffat and Lockerbie. The road then shortly enters England before becoming the M6 near Longtown. From junction 4 southwards it is part of the E05 Euroroute from Greenock to Algeciras. North from junction 4, the E05 takes a short stretch of the M73 connecting to the M8 and then proceeds westwards through Glasgow to Greenock.
