The Santa Clara County Fire Department (SCCFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the county of Santa Clara, California.Established in 1947, the SCCFD is responsible for the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County as well as the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga.

The Loma Fire was a wildfire that broke out on September 26, 2016, in the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Clara County, California. By the time the fire was contained on October 12, the fire had burned 4,474 acres (18 km 2 ) of land and had destroyed 12 residences and 16 outbuildings.

Unfortunately, a fire in 1926 destroyed the original 96-year-old Mission Santa Clara. [1] The school continued to grow and was in dire need of space. In 1952 school raised $138,000 to build a new convent for the teaching sisters located across from the school at 725 Washington Street in Santa Clara, freeing up more classroom space.
