Karen Anne Carpenter (March 2, 1950 – February 4, 1983) was an American singer and drummer who formed half of the highly successful duo The Carpenters with her older brother Richard. [1] With a distinctive three- octave contralto range, she was praised by her peers for her vocal skills.

Despite the damaged relationship, Daugherty later set aside his differences with the band and attended the funeral of Karen Carpenter in 1983, a gesture that Richard Carpenter found moving. Daugherty released another album, a collection of jazz and show tunes called "Romance", on the Portazul label in 1990. It would turn out to be his last work.
