Mississippi Highway 5 (MS 5) is a state highway in Benton County, Mississippi, United States. It runs 24.3 mi (39.107 km) from MS 178 in Hickory Flat north to U.S. Route 72 (US 72) to the south of Michigan City. The route runs through the Holly Springs National Forest for much of its length and passes through Ashland.
MS 5; Mississippi Highway 5 is labeled, and signed into law since March 2, 1989, as a scenic route for its entirety. This is not a separate scenic route, nor is it signed with the iconic blue shields. It does however have the scenic route markers above the number shield throughout its length except for the intersection with US 72.
Things changed when the state legislature launched the $1.3 billion Four-Lane Highway Program of 1987. [2] This program gradually allowed for the funding of over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of four-lane highway statewide. In 2002, the Four-Lane Highway Program was expanded in what was known as Vision 21.

The highway, consisting of two segments connected via McBride Road, connects Alcorn State University with Lorman, Natchez Trace Parkway and U.S. Route 61 (US 61) and other small communities in northern Jefferson County.
Mississippi Highway 531 (MS 531) is a state highway in central Mississippi. The road starts at MS 28 near Taylorsville and travels northeastward. It crosses from Smith County to Jasper County, and ends at MS 18 in the town of Bay Springs. The route was designated in 1956 along its current alignment, and it was paved by 1960.
