It is impossible to overstate how unimportant this is. When your kid MAP score is over 255, the range '-100 ~+50' thing starts to diminish, and at some point the lexile range is not range anymore, just the same top and bottom number. I think it is mid 260s. I doubt kid's teacher (8th grade) will know.

This would likely mean your kid is reading slightly below grade-level. The MAP-M doesn't have the same correlation. It doesn't really align with Curriculum 2.0. At the moment, it's being used as a comparison among schools. Schools are looking at their average scores and comparing them to the county's average scores.

On the other hand, her MAP-R is consistently in the 94th even though she works with two excellent reading specialists (online tutoring). This involves learning with one of the reading specialists for 5 hours a week (by her choice.) Her MAP-R score is totally flat for the last two years.

The value of interims, at least in HS and in my observation, is that they act as a grading-forcing event for teachers, whether by giving them the half-day to grade or just a target by which to get grades in.

The overwhelmingly majority of black people vote for Democrats, socially conservative or not. Maryland is the 5th blackest state, even counting DC. Add in enough liberal white voters, unlike the other very black states like Mississippi, and you've got a solidly Democrat state. This. 275 in 8th grade, 268 in 9th and 271 in 10th. (Lexile in the 1750-1900 range) These are all strong scores but does it matter that they don't show progress in three years? www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/802134.page

At our school, 4th and 5th graders don’t have math at the same time, so it wouldn’t be possible. Compacted math is in 4th grade so if your 3rd grade MAP score is that high, more than likely they will be in compacted math automatically and if not, you can always request it and see what they say. They will not jump your kid over 4/5 compacted ...
