Then, on 1 January 1964, another presidential decree came into effect, imposing the current system of three time zones. The final change came on 1 January 1988 when Bali was moved out of the West Indonesia time zone in to the Central Indonesia timezone, and West and Central Kalimantan were transferred from Central to West Indonesian Time. All six of the New England states in the northeastern U.S., currently in the Eastern Time Zone (with daylight saving time), have considered legislation to shift to UTC−04:00, equivalent to Atlantic Standard Time (with no observance of daylight saving time) or Eastern Daylight Time.
Independent of daylight saving time, solar noon in Connecticut on the March equinox is approximately 11:54 in the northeast corner and 12:02 in the southwest corner. New England, which includes Connecticut, is one of the few areas in the United States where solar noon is before noon.
