An antisemitic terrorist shooting took place at the Tree of Life – Or L'Simcha Congregation [b] synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.The congregation, along with New Light Congregation and Congregation Dor Hadash, which also worshipped in the building, was attacked during Shabbat morning services on October 27, 2018.

It was built in 1923 and was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1979. [1] The synagogue closed in 1995 and the building was later used by the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Charter School. In 2021, ground was broken on a new project which will convert the building into apartments. [2]
