Veeramani Daasan is an Indian singer of devotional songs and cinema songs. He received Harivarasanam Award for the year 2024 from Kerala state and Devosom Board. Earlier Veeramani Daasan had a light music troupe, Sruti Laya. But now it is devotional singing most of the way. He has sung for a couple of films too.
The song became extremely popular all over southern India, when it was included in the famous Malayalam film Swami Ayyappan in 1975. The song was rendered by Carnatic vocalist and playback singer K. Gurusamy narrates several small stories to his followers. He tells them of Subramani, a religious follower of Ayyappan, and his father, a loan shark. In an attempt to change his father's greed, Subramani climbs a mountain and puts a garland of flowers on it. Ayyappan protects people who were tricked by loan sharks and unable to pay the loan.
