Rename it to: Slot_00000002.save. You may want to give it a different number if you already have a save 2 in your folder. The game should then recognize the save file again. -- If you have an old auto save file (Slot_00000001.save) it's safe to delete as the game doesn't use it anymore.
In the "saves" folder, you should have 2 more folders, "scratch" and "SerialGUID" within that "saves" folder, both containing files related to the save slots. Also, you should have all the contents of the "Tray" and "lotcacheddata" folders too, since they contain data defining your Sims and the lots and households they occupy.
Ensure The Sims 4 is closed and then within File Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\<your_user>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4. It doesn't seem to help. I have tried to do documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>saved games and it doesn't work for me. If I can't find the deleted game I would have lost 3 generations worth of families. I would not feel like playing again unless there's a better way to fix this issue. Please help.
To see the full file path to a save, right-click the file and select Properties > General, then look for the Location. If this doesn't help, please post the full file path to the Sims 4 folder as seen in-game. Please also post a screenshot of the folder that contains your saves, as in, I'd like to see the save files themselves.
June 2023. Options. candiecoatediv. ★★★★★ Guide. I have noticed since the last update or two that my game is generating a scratch folder in the saves file. I read on here in a very old post that this folder is harmless and is supposed to be temporary as the game is being played then should delete itself after the game closes.
The file the sims 4 seems to be recognizing is the last save file in the screenshot, slot _00000003.save. I need it to recognize the Slot_00000002.save.ver0. I’m just not understanding why it only recognizes the oldest save file and not the others. Also there was another save file but i moved it out as I didn’t want that one to be recognized.
Accepted Solution. @Leefoleyyy Try loading a different household within the same save. (Just click on a different house and thene click the Play button in the lower right corner.) When you load that household, immediately use "save as" and rename the save, so your original remains as a backup.
The game creates 5 backup files of your game save. (the 'time stamp in the folder, will also help you locate the file you need) Slot_00000002.save.ver0 (Backup 0) - Newest backup to the main save. Slot_00000001.save is the auto save. If you still have this in your Saves folder, it's safe to delete or rename.
