Sodom and Gomorrah by John Martin. In the Abrahamic religions, Sodom and Gomorrah (/ ˈ s ɒ d ə m /; / ɡ ə ˈ m ɒr ə /) were two cities destroyed by God for their wickedness. [1] Their story parallels the Genesis flood narrative in its theme of God's anger provoked by man's sin (see Genesis 19:1–28).
Old Testament prophets often denounced them for their pride and wickedness (Ezekiel 26-28, Isaiah 23). Sodom was infamous for its wickedness and destroyed by God in the time of Abraham (Genesis 19). It became a byword for divine judgment and extreme sinfulness in Jewish and Christian Tradition.

In the Bible, Lot's wife is a figure first mentioned in Genesis 19.
