The Military ranks of Bangladesh are the military insignia used by the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Bangladeshi rank structure is similar to that of the United Kingdom except for general officer ranks. Bangladesh Army has junior commissioned officer rank system like India and Pakistan .
The insignia for the rank of major general is the shapla taken from the Bangladesh coat of arms, above a 'crossed sword and baton' since 2013. [2] Until 2013, the insignia was used for 'lieutenant-general' rank and major general's insignia was only a pip over crossed sword and baton. Major generals wear two-star pointed badge in collars.

Recipients All the recipients of this award were killed in action during the Bangladesh War of Independence in 1971. The award was published by the Bangladesh Gazette on 15 December 1973. It is the highest military award of Bangladesh, similar to the U.S. Medal of Honor or the UK's Victoria Cross. It has only been given in 1973 to seven people.
