Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji, known in Japan as Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji, is the first part of the manga series Kaiji by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. It ran in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine from 1996 to 1999. [1] Kodansha collected its chapters in thirteen tankōbon volumes, released from September 6, 1996, [2] to October 6, 1999. [3]
The series was also nominated for the first Manga Taisho awards in 2008. [2] The manga was first published as a one-shot in Shueisha's shōjo manga magazine Bessatsu Margaret on August 11, 2005, [3] and planned to be compiled in her previous work, Crazy For You. Shiina decided to expand the story and make it into a full series.
In August 2018, it was announced at Otakon that the then brand new North American manga publishing company Denpa licensed the first part of the manga Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji. It is being released in a six-volume omnibus edition with 500+ pages in each one, [ 4 ] [ 5 ] [ 6 ] and the first volume was published on November 12, 2019.
As of December 20, 2024, 51 volumes and one fanbook have been released in Japan, [1] and as of April 2, 2024, 49 volumes have been released in the United States. [2] Viz Media began re-issuing the Skip Beat! manga series in a 3-in-1 VIZBIG EDITION in March 2012, and as of December 2020, 14 volumes have been released.
