The Tripura Rahasya expounds the teachings of the supreme spiritual truth. The highest truth was first taught by Shiva to Vishnu. Vishnu incarnated on earth as Dattatreya, lord of the Avadhutas, who taught this to Parashurama, who later taught it to Haritāyana.
