The James C. Twiss House is a historic house located at 298 N. Page St. in Aviston, Illinois. The house was built in 1907 for James C. Twiss, a prominent Clinton County farmer. Architect George Franklin Barber, known nationally for his mail-order house designs, designed the plans for the house, which Twiss selected from a catalog.
The high school and district formed in 1971 as a consolidation of the high schools of Breese and Aviston. [1]In 2016 the school's enrollment went over 559, which was above the 557 needed to join the 3A athletic league for basketball of both male and female teams; it was previously in 2A.

Henry Althoff was born on August 28, 1873, in Aviston, Illinois, to Frederick and Theresa (née Poelker) Althoff. [1] He completed his classical and philosophy studies at St. Joseph College in Teutopolis, Illinois (A.B., 1898) and at St. Francis Solanus College in Quincy, Illinois (M.A., 1899). [1]
