The University of Lincoln developed out of several educational institutions, including Hull School of Art (1861), Hull Technical Institute (1893), the Roman Catholic teacher-training Endsleigh College (1905), Hull Central College of Commerce (1930), and Kingston upon Hull College of Education (1913).
The University of Lincoln, formerly the University of Humberside, was based in the region until it relocated to Lincoln in the early 21st century, closing its campus in Hull. [1] The idea of it returning to the region with a new campus in Grimsby was mooted in 2019.
The University of Lincolnshire and Humberside was formed in 1996, based in Hull. It maintained the original structures until 2002, when the headquarters were moved to Lincoln, became the University of Lincoln and consolidated some agricultural colleges from De Montfort University. Hull's only remaining input was the former School of Art.
