Far was an American rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1991. Although Far only experienced limited commercial success, the band had considerable influence on underground rock music. [2] They are perhaps best known for their song "Mother Mary", from their influential record Water & Solutions.
Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave Water & Solutions a positive four star review, stating it "finds the Sacramento-based alternative metal band coming into their own, creating a distinctive fusion of the sober, grinding guitars of Helmet and Tool" [4] and that "the best moments of Water & Solutions show that Far have carved out their own alterna-metal niche."

Mother Machree" is a 1910 American-Irish song with lyrics by Rida Johnson Young and singer Chauncey Olcott, and music by Ernest Ball. It was originally written for the show Barry of Ballymoore. [1] It was first released by Chauncey Olcott, then by Will Oakland in 1910. The song was later kept popular by John McCormack and others.
Mary has also been identified with Mary I of England ("Bloody Mary"; 1516–1558), with "How does your garden grow?" said to refer to her lack of heirs, or to the common idea that England had become a Catholic vassal or "branch" of Spain and the Habsburgs. It is also said to be a punning reference to her chief minister, Stephen Gardiner.
The lyrics of "Mother" address both of Lennon's parents, each of whom abandoned him in his childhood. [4] His father, Alf, left the family when Lennon was an infant. [4] His mother, Julia, did not live with her son, although they had a good relationship; she was killed in a car accident on 15 July 1958 by an off-duty policeman named Eric Clague when Lennon was 17. Don't sing love songs; you'll wake my mother She's sleeping here, right by my side And in her right hand, a silver dagger She says that I can't be your bride. All men are false, says my mother They'll tell you wicked, lovin' lies The very next evening, they'll court another Leave you alone to pine and sigh. My daddy is a handsome devil
