The Navistar T444E is a diesel V8 engine manufactured by Navistar International Corporation. In its use in Ford Motor Company trucks, vans, and school buses, it is the first of the Power Stroke family of diesel engines. The T444E was manufactured from 1994 to 2003, replacing the 7.3L IDI V8 designed by International Harvester.
The MaxxForce 7, also known as the 6.4 L PowerStroke in 2008-2010 model year Ford Super Duty trucks, is a 6.4 L turbo-diesel V8 engine. The engine has a sequential turbocharger system, utilizing a high pressure and low pressure turbo, with only the high pressure turbo being a VGT (variable geometry turbo) .

By the end of the 1970s, the use of the Super Duty engine began to decline in heavy trucks in favor of diesel-fueled engines; in medium-duty trucks, variants of the similar-displacement (but higher-efficiency) 385-series V8s became more commonly used. In 1981, Ford withdrew the Super Duty engine line.
