She began her legal career as an assistant district attorney in Tarrant County, Texas, from 1995 to 1996. She served as an assistant solicitor general in the Office of the DeKalb County, Georgia, Solicitor General, from 1997 to 1998. From 1998 to 2002, she was a senior assistant district attorney in the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.
Before becoming DA, Boston served as DeKalb County's Solicitor-General, a position Gov. Sonny Perdue, a Republican, appointed her to fill in January 2011.
