Tensing Pen Resort is located on the western tip of Jamaica in the town of Negril.It was founded in the early 1970s as a haven and retreat for young couples. In 1975, it was purchased by Karin and Richard Murray.

One of the schemes of the novel's antagonist Francisco Scaramanga was to open a hotel called "Thunderbird" on a Negril beach. Negril is mentioned in the lyrics of the 1976 Bob Seger song "Sunspot Baby", which is the first song on the second side of the album Night Moves.
Xtabi is a cove on the cliffs of Negril, in Westmoreland, Jamaica. It consists of a labyrinth of caves and passageways carved from solid rock over millennia of ocean water striking it. [1] An eponymous hotel sits atop the cliffs.
