Lafourche Parish (French: Paroisse de la Fourche) is a parish located in the south of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat is Thibodaux. [1] The parish was formed in 1807. [2] It was originally the northern part of Lafourche Interior Parish, which consisted of the present parishes of Lafourche and Terrebonne.

Larose is located in south-central Lafourche Parish at (29.567328, -90.376074). [3] It is bordered to the southeast by the community of Cut Off. Bayou Lafourche and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway intersect in the center of Larose.
Politically, the wards are used in voting in elections, subdivided into precincts. Under various previous city charters of the 19th century, aldermen and later city council members were elected by ward. The city has not had officials elected to represent wards since 1912, but the ward designations remain a part of New Orleans' fabric.
