Groupe Fnac Darty, formerly Kesa Electricals plc, Darty plc and Darty Limited, is a multinational retail company headquartered in Ivry-sur-Seine, France.It was formerly a public limited company (PLC) listed on the London Stock Exchange, until it was merged with Fnac in 2016 and subsequently moved the listing to Euronext Paris.
Fnac was founded by André Essel and Max Théret in 1954. [1] Its headquarters is located in Le Flavia in Ivry-sur-Seine near Paris. Its name is an abbreviation of Fédération Nationale d’Achats des Cadres ("National Purchasing Federation for Cadres"). It merged with Darty in 2016 to become Groupe Fnac Darty.
The Fnac Darty affiliation caused conflict with MediaMarkt co-founder Erich Kellerhals. [12] There was a controversy between Ceconomy and Convergenta over the company's strategy and board appointments, [ 13 ] which ended in 2020.

[2] During his career, Régis Schultz held the positions of President of Retail at Al-Futtaim Group, CEO of French retail chain Monoprix and member of the executive committee of Groupe Casino, CEO of Darty, CEO of French retailer BUT and top executive of Kingfisher PLC.
In March 2016, Darty announced it had agreed to be purchased by Steinhoff for £673 million, through Conforama subsidiary. [5] [6] Fnac returned with a higher offer, resulting in a bidding war between Fnac and Conforama during April 2016. [7] On 26 April, Conforama announced that it had dropped out in the battle for Darty. [8]
