The Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM) is the medical school of Wayne State University, a public research university in Detroit, Michigan.It enrolls more than 1,500 students in undergraduate medical education, master's degree, Ph.D., and M.D.-Ph.D. [1] WSUSOM traces its roots through four predecessor institutions since its founding in 1868.
In fall 2019, the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences had 976 total students enrolled, with 926 full-time students and 50 part-time students. In 1913 the high school began offering some college-level courses, and in 1917 the new two-year Detroit Junior College began to operate in the building. In 1923 this would become the four-year degree granting College of the City of Detroit, one of the main precursor institutions of today's Wayne State University.
