Piedmont is a city in northwestern Wayne County in Southeast Missouri, United States. Its population was 1,897 at the 2020 census . [ 4 ] Part of the Ozark Foothills Region , it is at the convergence of State Highways 34 and 49.
In 1966, Rutledge completed his Ph.D. in solid state physics at the University of Missouri. He subsequently took the position of professor and chairman of the physics department at Southeast Missouri State University. He was department chairman from 1964 to 1982 and retired from teaching in 1993.
