Midwest Airlines (formerly Midwest Express) was an airline in the United States headquartered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, that operated from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport between 1984 and 2010. For a short time, it also operated as a brand of Republic Airways Holdings. [2]
The airline had announced earlier in August 2019 an agreement with Elite Airways to provide the services under the branding, livery, customer service and reservations system provided by the Midwest Express operating company. [2] It is intended as a successor to the Midwest Airlines that operated from 1984 to 2010, also headquartered in Milwaukee.
On April 17, 1989, The Midwest Express Connection was created and based in Milwaukee. The aircraft operated by Mesa Air Group. In 1994, Astral Aviation later named Skyway Airlines, Inc., was formed to own and operate The Midwest Express Connection turboprop aircraft feeding passengers to the larger aircraft operated by Midwest Express.
Midwest Connect (formerly Midwest Express Connection) was the brand name for the regional airline service of Midwest Airlines, rather than a certificated airline carrier. Skyway Airlines was the sole operator of Midwest Connect since its inception in 1989, until SkyWest Airlines began additional Midwest Connect service on April 1, 2007. [1]
