Black Orchid is an American comic book written by Neil Gaiman with art by Dave McKean. It was published by DC Comics as a three-issue limited series from December 1988 to February 1989, and was later reprinted in trade paperback form. Black Orchid follows two girls, Flora and Suzy, who awaken in a greenhouse.

Antony de Zuñiga [1] (November 8, [2] 1932 [3] – May 11, 2012) [2] who worked primarily under the name Tony DeZuniga, was a Filipino comics artist and illustrator best known for his works for DC Comics. He co-created the fictional characters Jonah Hex and Black Orchid.
When designing Black Orchid, artist Tony DeZuñiga took inspiration from Cymbidium canaliculatum, a plant with dark purple petals, and Black Condor.He stated that he "read the character description and [recalled that] in the ’40s there was this character called the Black Condor, but [since] that was a male superhero, [he] took some ideas and revised [it] to a female form."
