Video random-access memory (VRAM) is dedicated computer memory used to store the pixels and other graphics data as a framebuffer to be rendered on a computer monitor. [1] It often uses a different technology than other computer memory, in order to be read quickly for display on a screen.
Dual-ported RAM allows the CPU to read and write data to memory as if it were a conventional DRAM chip, while adding a second port that reads out data. This makes it easy to interface with a Video display controller (VDC), which sends a timing signal to the memory and receives data in the correct sequence as it draws the screen.
This allows for some variation, as well as flashing effects, as the background color can be changed without having to redraw the screen (i.e. without changing the contents of the video RAM). In text mode, the border color (displayed outside the regular display area and including the overscan area) can be changed from the default black to any of ...
The single fixed-screen mode used in first-generation (128k and 512k) Apple Mac computers, launched in 1984, with a monochrome 9" CRT integrated into the body of the computer. Used to display one of the first mass-market full-time GUIs, and one of the earliest non-interlaced default displays with more than 256 lines of vertical resolution.
Concerning an artice with name "VRAM" - that should describe video memory in general (giving a quick run-down on terms like bitmap, framebuffer, tiles, bg maps, palettes, textures, color depths, etc, and mentioning normal DRAM and SRAM commonly being used as normal video memory, and dual-ported RAM being mentioned only as a special variant).
They were concerned about her being upside down for so long and possibly suffering from the effects of excess pressure on her limbs. The 23-year-old had been walking with friends when she dropped ...
To view multiple windows in AOL Desktop Gold, you'll want to resize and position them appropriately on your screen. You can also save the window size and position for the next time you sign in to Desktop Gold. Open the window you want to resize or move. Click and drag the outside border of the window to modify its size.
Video memory was shared with the first 128 KiB of RAM. The exact size of the video memory could be reconfigured by software to meet the needs of the current program. An early hybrid system was the Commodore Amiga which could run as a shared memory system, but would load executable code preferentially into non-shared "fast RAM" if it was available.
