The main Summer Camp Island characters, Oscar, Hedgehog and Max, make their first appearances as incarnations in two of Julia Pott's independent shorts: the first is her multi-awarded student film from Royal College of Art (called Belly), while the second is her Sundance Film Festival 2013-nominated short The Event.
Summer Camp Island is an animated television series created by Julia Pott for Cartoon Network. Produced by Cartoon Network Studios , it premiered on July 7, 2018. The series depicts the episodic adventures of Oscar and Hedgehog, both of whom are staying at the magical eponymous summer camp.
Pott's films have competed at festivals around the world, including Sundance and SXSW.After working as a writer on the animated television series Adventure Time, Pott developed her own series, Summer Camp Island, which debuted on Cartoon Network in 2018 and is available on Max internationally (although the series was removed from HBO Max in the United States in August 2022).
