Tinley Park (formerly Bremen) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States (with a small portion in Will County), and is a suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census , the population was 55,971, [ 3 ] and it is among the fastest-growing suburbs southwest of Chicago.
By 1935, IL 43 was moved to what is now IL 4 from Olive Township to Oraville. [4] By 1964, IL 4 supplanted all of IL 43. [5] In 1967, Illinois Route 42A, which originally followed Waukegan Road and Harlem Avenue, was decommissioned and was replaced by IL 43. [2] [6] In Deerfield, IL 43 is designated a Blue Star Memorial Highway. [7]
From 1963 to 1965, the tollway was marked as US 30 Toll and ran along modern-day I-88, I-294, and the present-day IL 394 (which in 1963 was called IL 1 until 1964, when it became IL 394). The East-West Tollway portion was renamed to IL 190 in 1965 and eventually became IL 5 before becoming I-88 in 1988.

The original alignment followed (from south–north) what used to be part of IL 1, IL 140, IL 25, IL 44, IL 51, and IL 46 before terminating at US 12.
