Thomas was the son of Sir Thomas Howard, later 2nd Duke of Norfolk (1443–1524), by his first wife, Elizabeth Tilney (died 1497), the daughter of Sir Frederick Tilney and widow of Sir Humphrey Bourchier, [2] and the grandson of John Howard, 1st Baron Howard, later 1st Duke of Norfolk.
Elizabeth Howard (died 1536), married Henry Radclyffe, 2nd Earl of Sussex. Note: Thomas Howard indeed had two living daughters named Elizabeth Howard and two living sons named Thomas Howard. He is chiefly known for his marriage (later invalidated by Henry) to Lady Margaret Douglas (1515–1578), the daughter of Henry VIII's sister, Margaret Tudor , for which he was imprisoned in the Tower of London , where he died on 31 October 1537.
