WCKX was originally assigned the WJZA call sign on November 23, 1993. On December 29, 1997, the WCKX call sign assigned to 106.3 MHz ("Power 106") in London, Ohio (now WJYD) was reassigned to 107.5 FM, while the WJZA call sign was dropped and later picked up by 103.5 FM in Pickerington ("Smooth Jazz 103.5 FM").
In 2010, Big Boy and Power 106 were featured in the movie 'Project X.' During the end of the movie he talked about the party and made reference to Kanye West. On August 6, 2007, Big Boy signed a multi-year deal with ABC Radio Networks to syndicate the show, and his weekend show Big Boy's Hip Hop Spot.

By July 2012, "Power" has begun to mix more urban contemporary material into the playlist. On March 28, 2013, it was announced that "Power" was moving to 106.7 FM at 8 a.m. on April 1. The station wanted to take advantage of a stronger signal. With the switch, the station was rebranded as "Power 106.7". [15]
