Three rooms form the southern wing of the madrasa. The tomb attributed to Alauddin Khalji is located in the central room. The central room measures 16 by 12 feet (4.9 m × 3.7 m). The walls of the room are thick and are made of rock and limestone. However, currently they are eroded except the sharp-edge rocks beneath them.

Alauddin Khalji (Persian: علاء الدین خلجی; r. 1296–1316), born Ali Gurshasp, was a ruler from the Khalji dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate in the Indian subcontinent. Alauddin instituted a number of significant administrative changes in India, related to revenues, price controls, and society.

The Khalji or Khilji dynasty [b] was a Turco-Afghan dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate for three decades between 1290 and 1320. It was the second dynasty to rule the Delhi Sultanate which covered large swaths of the Indian subcontinent. [6] [7] [8] It was founded by Jalal ud din Firuz Khalji. [9]
The Alai Darwaza was built by Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khalji of the Khalji dynasty in 1311. It was a part of his plan to extend the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque on four sides. Although he planned to construct four gates, only the Alai Darwaza could be completed as he died in 1316. [2] It serves as the southern gateway of the mosque. [1]
Mubarak Shah, also called Mubarak Khan, was a son of Alauddin Khalji and Jhatyapali, the daughter of Ramachandra of Devagiri. [2] After Alauddin died on 4 January 1316, his slave-general Malik Kafur appointed Alauddin's 6-year-old son Shihabuddin as a puppet monarch, and himself held the power as regent.
