Tennis South Africa (TSA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in South Africa.It is a not-for-profit organization, which "invests its proceeds to promote and develop the growth of tennis, from the grass-roots to the professional levels and to raise funds for and on behalf of tennis players and the game of tennis within the Republic of South Africa".

The Western Province Championships, [1] and officially known as Western Province Tennis Association Championships, [2] was a men's and women's international tennis tournament established in 1892. It was originally played on outdoor grass courts, then switched to hard courts later.
The Natal Championships were founded in 1884 and first staged Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. [3] In 1962 the Natal Sugar Championships were founded as part of the Sugar Circuit (f. 1962) [4] [5] of tennis tournaments from the 1960s to 1980s. [6] In 1962 and 1972 only men's tournament was also valid as the Natal Championships.
The first Free State tournament on record was played at Ramblers in 1905, [3] and was called the Orange River Colony Tennis Championships.
