The show was broadcast on TV3 from 17 September 2001 and was presented by Eamon Dunphy. [3] Almost all spin-offs of the original show followed the BBC formula, which required the host to be a woman, but the Irish creators chose Dunphy because Irish viewers were already familiar with his abrasive style.
Entry to the show was by collecting a particular sequence on special Millionaire scratch cards and each week four contestants competed for the chance to win up to £100,000. The final show saw each of the fifteen contestants, who won through the weekly rounds, compete for £1 million.
