It works in pure .c files under the gcc and clang, at least on Apple platforms. The only lines in the example that use Objective-C are the NSLog statements, which could be replaced with printf statements to have a pure C closure example. It is worth renaming (and repositioning up higher) the section "Closures in C (gcc, clang)" or somesuch.
