  2. Circular buffer - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_buffer

In computer science, a circular buffer, circular queue, cyclic buffer or ring buffer is a data structure that uses a single, fixed-size buffer as if it were connected end-to-end. This structure lends itself easily to buffering data streams. [1] There were early circular buffer implementations in hardware. [2] [3]

  3. Queue (abstract data type) - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queue_(abstract_data_type)

In a FIFO data structure, the first element added to the queue will be the first one to be removed. This is equivalent to the requirement that once a new element is added, all elements that were added before have to be removed before the new element can be removed. A queue is an example of a linear data structure, or more abstractly a ...

  4. List of data structures - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_data_structures

This is a list of well-known data structures. For a wider list of terms, see list of terms relating to algorithms and data structures. For a comparison of running times for a subset of this list see comparison of data structures.

  5. FIFO (computing and electronics) - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFO_(computing_and...

Representation of a FIFO queue with enqueue and dequeue operations. Depending on the application, a FIFO could be implemented as a hardware shift register, or using different memory structures, typically a circular buffer or a kind of list. For information on the abstract data structure, see Queue (data structure).

  6. Dijkstra's algorithm - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dijkstra's_algorithm

A min-priority queue is an abstract data type that provides 3 basic operations: add_with_priority(), decrease_priority() and extract_min(). As mentioned earlier, using such a data structure can lead to faster computing times than using a basic queue. Notably, Fibonacci heap [19] or Brodal queue offer optimal implementations for those 3 ...

  7. Talk:Queue (abstract data type) - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Queue_(abstract_data...

I would have found a page on circular queues / ring buffers useful. (a queue implemented in an array). Programming in java, there doesn't seem to be a default implementation available, so others might find it useful, esp. with the new java IO model (java.nio.*, java.nio.channel.* etc)

  8. Comparison of data structures - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_data_structures

A priority queue is an abstract data-type similar to a regular queue or stack. Each element in a priority queue has an associated priority. In a priority queue, elements with high priority are served before elements with low priority. Priority queues support the following operations: insert: add an element to the queue with an associated priority.

  9. Round-robin scheduling - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-robin_scheduling

A Round Robin preemptive scheduling example with quantum=3. Round-robin (RR) is one of the algorithms employed by process and network schedulers in computing. [1] [2] As the term is generally used, time slices (also known as time quanta) [3] are assigned to each process in equal portions and in circular order, handling all processes without priority (also known as cyclic executive).
